Bell Kantha Bag No. 24

Bell Kantha Bag is made from a vintage kantha blanket, and for this reason all the kantha bags are one-of-a-kind. The bag is a lightweight medium sized tote bag perfect to carry all your favorite belongings. The bag is embellished by hand with tassels, metal sequins and delicate bells. On the inside you will find a pocket and the bag is finished on the inside with bias tape on all seams.

This unique item is upcycled from a vintage Kantha blanket. The kantha embroidery technique, creatively upcycles old cotton saris, that previously have been worn by Indian women, giving them new life as upcycled clothing items, blankets, or bedspreads. The old fabric are placed on top of each other and stitched together by hand, using the traditional kantha embroidery technique. This technique is characterized by the many rows of short, continuous stitches. This characteristic embroidery method has been used in India for hundreds of years and is especially common among women in the countryside. Each Kantha item is one-of-a-kind in both print and color combination.
